About

I accepted a tenure track position at the University of Maine Augusta in the Fall of 2010 to develop a caring-holistic-intergal curriculum for the RN- BSN program. I am also adjunct faculty teaching for several different graduate nursing programs in the online setting, and I am available to chair or second dissertation committees for Transformative Studies doctoral students at the California Institute of Integral Studies. 

My MSN in nursing education was granted from California State University, Dominguez Hills, where I was a member of the first group of online learners in the school of nursing. I received my humanities PhD from the California Institute of Integral Studies, in transformative learning and change in 2001.

I have published articles in such journals as Advances in Nursing Science, The International Journal for Human Caring, World Futures, and The International Journal of Nursing Education Scholarship. My published works have focused on the nursing shortage, caring in nursing education, complexity in nursing education, integral approaches to nursing education, and the use of a Partnership social model in nursing education.

I have worked with the grassroots Nurse Manifest Project in performing nursing research and as a blog contributor. I was  a research intern for the Institute of Noetic Sciences. I am a member of the American Nurses Association, American Holistic Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau, and The International Human Caring Association.

My professional goals include ushering in a new era of caring-based practices in nursing, transforming health care systems, creating transpersonal states/ altered levels of consciousness, and supporting the growth of nurses striving to create sustainable, caring-healing practices and professional autonomy.
